Okay, to remove all ambiguity. Google+: 1) Google+ is not a Photo community. Thus, I can have no expectation of fitness for purpose. 2) It does indeed share the quota with Gmail. 3) 7GB is also ridiculously low as a quota for any larger pic

G+ is not focused on pictures. Picasa only allows 1GB (used to be 200MB). I take multiple Gigabytes of pictures on all photo trips. Flickr is the perfect match for amateur photographers without ambition ;).

Also, not too focused on high-quality photography. Flickr is a very nice pool for picture pools for conferences etc.

Sure, but where to? I had worse experiences with many other such services, or they have a very narrow focus.

Elasticsearch is very component-based and can be deployed as a servlet if you really wish. Just use a different transport implementation: https://github.com/elasticsearch/elasticsearch-transport-war...

Marvel is quite interesting. It is a product everyone _could_ build on their own (basically, it is Kibana over their own metrics data), but at that price point, there is no reasonable reason to do so.

Who to assign the copyright to is the artists decision, so it is - ultimately - the artists decision.

Given that Opal.rb was started in 2010 and Opalang (back then called opages) in 2010 as well, I would file that under "unfortunate". https://github.com/opal/opal/commits/master?page=107 https:/

I take offense in their statement, not the methodology. As I said in other responses: sold differently, I would be perfectly okay with what they are doing.

Much of the music available of on youtube was not released by the artists. If the statement were "we want to make access to freely available music easier" (and we cannot police how it got to our sources) - sure. Go with it!

I wouldn't hold my breath. The worst thing you can do after something like that is going back to the old way of working. It's not like you steel yourself by going through such a phase.

I concur with the sentiment that the ruby homepage over-emphasizes news people get from other places. Most of the news are release announcements and CVEs where ruby-lang.org is the prime source - it is good to emphasize that. Another thing

Add Botswana to the list, with very nice game reserves (central Kalahari, Okawango, Chobe National park, Victoria Falls close). Expensive, though, but with a very good security track record for tourists.

Also, many paper magazines had similar services (often called "quicklinks" or similar) for a long time where they would just print the URL or even just the ID of the link, for easy lookup on their website.

The most important part is that it avoids many cases where the client tries to "ship off" the software. (e.g. by selling it to another party for a penny and going bankrupt itself) This is in some cases fraudulent in itself, but be
