Sort-of? They both compete in rendering, specifically for ArchVis. But otherwise they complement each other more than they compete. Likely why Epic is also a member of the Blender Development Fund.

I mean, If git's been around for ages by now, and this doesn't exist for even json + xml already and robustly, there must be some sort of problem?

Correct, Pixar is notorious for using fairly low detail SubD surface control cages for almost everything.

It's brought up in multiple other comments, so I won't bother going into detail, but the empirical testing, is flawed and is actually measuring changes in other details about thread launch behavior.

> GPUs at 1-2GHz to maximize power efficiency As a nit, they run at 1-2GHz to maximize thermal efficiency. high-end GPU's aren't really power efficient at all, they are built to maximize throughput while minimizing melting.

It's been often quoted that Nvidia has switched to tile based for their Desktop renderers, but I haven't seen a source that confirms this. I suspect this is speculation due to changes in raster order that produce side-effects that

Those are going to require some serious citations. I'm quite sure most desktop GPUs don't run as tiled renderers at least under normal circumstances.

I don't think that's an accurate description... Fair use is a defense for cases of copyright infringement, which means you're starting of from a case of copyright infringement, which sort-of muckys up the whole "innocent
