Starcraft II was one of the best reproductions in a successor, IMO. But I play them both significantly less, but frankly, I've changed more over those 12 years then Starcraft, seems to be a more likely culprit.

Ok, let's be serious. Usage of street view data may or may not be useful for the driverless cars. But the original, primary motivation for street view was the ability to build their own map data and remove their dependency on existing map p

My guess is that John Carmack could kickstart rocket projects with his own checkbook better than we've seen financing from kickstarter. Rocket projects are very expensive!!

Yes, this is indeed the case! I shoot with a prime, so the ability to change the focal length doesn't really come to me. But I think it's very important that you brought up specifically the fact that the distance spatially between the camer

Agreed, working in game development, I've very rarely heard of people using the Codeweaver's approach for commercial Mac ports. I think this is just a case of playing a game of mishearing/misremembering.

They don't control IE, Firefox, or Opera. This seems really like they are fighting against Google's war for total web control. Which I'll reiterate, is a good thing.

Is it? With all the modern webkit only extensions and prefix usage, FB promoting browser diversity seems like strictly a good thing!

Is it? It seems to me that suggesting browsers that are not the most common, actually does much more for the open web than the alternative.

Generally speaking, it ends up much less graphical, which is the major failing of Emacs in comparison to Lights Table, but if the functionality is what you are looking for, instead of the pretties then Emacs has similar development time. I'

Sure, it could be good enough, but the ecosystem has not been building up around that. Perhaps it's the seperate languages used, or the clunkiness of having to use another browser and all the setup just to render a simple graph. But I perso

Visual Studio is a unique case in that it had the giant of Microsoft and their windows platform behind it, and IIRC, at the time no opensource free alternatives. I'm not sure in a modern world, Light Table advantages would afford it the sam

You have many strong and valid points, But I think it's possible to engineer a world where "Memory corruption related exploits" cease to exit. There are many high-level programming techniques that can be used to prevent those, and I was mak

The idea of having a small kernel that is properly verified, and properly run user-level code in a memory-protected manner isn't absurd. And when put into the context of Operating System budgets, 4.6 Million dollars is completely reasonable

In theory, it's possible to use a formally verified approach to ensure this can't happen, and there is a lot of research into that. There is a version of the L4 microkernel that has been formally verified which should prevent memory corrupt

The advantage of LightTable's approach is that using HTML, is a simple, trivially extensible and powerful way to provide advanced UI widgeting, something modern emacs supports very poorly. Mostly due to working in a terminal if needed, but

I think the fear is in the "probably". YCombinator, for instance, doesn't have a good record of doing things just for the community good, they are after all profit seeking. That's not to say it won't happen, but the fear is there.

What I worry about Light Table is what it won't be from Emacs. At the end of the day, Emacs is still a text editor, and still edits files. This means that I really can use it for anything, doesn't matter if I have a mode for it, or an embed

Yes, trying to be blind of people's traits, such as skin color, is indeed not the way to get beyond racism. We need to recognize that some people are different and that is a good thing, not that we should try to ignore the differences.
