The links you reference are mosly for OpenGL, SDL, and File I/O, which is a small part of what Emacs actually needs.

I suspect however, that it doesn't support X11 and many of the other required libraries that are required by Emacs. Also, don't feel bad about "actually..." ing me, I'd prefer to know the truth, than to think a falsehood.

Because, it's not as simple as that. A huge amount of the C code is interfacing with platform libs, emscripten doesn't just fix that.

Money hats: Blizzard is making them right now. But yes, if anyone realistically thinks these server issues significantly alter sales, they must have also forgotten the SC2, WoW, DiabloII launch.

My comments are specifically about data storage. It was much harder to store terabytes back then.

Really? No Screenshots, no live preview, even the video doesn't show the actual application? No offense, but why would I want to sign-up to even get a glimpse of your editing environment?

The thing about a weird sense of humor is it's likely not the same weird sense of humor any particular other person is likely to have. The problem with "ninja" developer and the like is by now it's starting to get played out, even among mor

Your statement is a bit unclear, in particular, this part "I realized it's in the doing." What's in the doing? > It's better to alter your mindset about your work. Elaboration on this would be interesting.

How is that underestimated, a world of 10GB Hardrives when that's much less than the base package of dropbox these days. Managing the terabytes of data required for the movie back then was a much more difficult task.

The infrastructure to maintain authority on terabytes of data on late 90's hardware in a distributed fashion would be a pretty significant amount of development effort. It'd be much easier to just get a giant RAID NAS, and manage it all the

I meant to imply that Nvidia the company doesn't need to support Wayland specifically, rather that Wayland has multiple ways to support the GPU without the company's involvement.

"Not that you would" Implies that you could. I was pointing out that they could not, for two rather poignant reasons. I didn't mean to do it offensively, but the point is that syncing and managing the huge amount of data that they have woul

It seems that Brendon has commented on this: http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=2983157 tldr: Nacl cannot be standardized, and the relevant API's are too strongly tied to chrome/webkit details to provide a first-class port to Mozilla.

You use the word proven as if it means something. The work you list is no more proven in terms of building production systems than any other research work. Additionally, I find it interesting to note, that if you had in fact been very famil

The problem, is that at the end of the day, some code somewhere is going to have to deal with resource allocation. Generally speaking with all the other fluff aside, an operating system, fundamentally manages and multiplexes resources. It's

This is in the original context of how all systems will be written in "GC enabled system programming languages". If the language is not GC enabled due to missing a runtime or w/e then the technicality isn't relevant.

The wayland compositor is the traditional window manager, takes a similar amount of code to write, and has the same scope and usage. Additionally, Nvidia doesn't need to support Wayland, that is why Wayland isn't using GLX by default.

The problem with the LGPL is that it's designed for code that is compiled and binary linked, which makes it harder to reason about for JS code. Additionally, afaict, it's problematic to use on embedded, closed platforms, such as iOS.

C hardly requires it's runtime. Objective-C without the runtime is just C, if you write the runtime, GC, and other low-level system components in the C subset of Objective-C you are just writing the kernel in C.
