Racket has a surprisingly good cross-platform GUI library. I've been building a tool for streamlining some testing at work, and building in Racket makes it almost trivial for it to work across Mac/Win/Linux, even the GUI bits

At least as of 2016, a chat app was used as an example of a Cassandra-backed application in multiple sessions at Cassandra Summit. As in, it was used to talk about how one would implement various features using Cassandra - I don’t recall an

Wow, this looks like the perfect answer to the OP’s question. It’s a $5 app, one time purchase, with a simple HTTP API to send notifications. Looks super useful. https://pushover.net/

It is indeed fantastic. I think it's partially an effect of how long the author has been working on it. Per https://www.pcalc.com/mac/twenty.html , PCalc is 28 years old. That's a lot of time to get feedback,

If I was told that from a company I was looking at, I would drop them like a hot rock. Health insurance is not optional in the US, and COBRA is a giant ass-pain. This really sounds like very little benefit to me for a whole lot of benefit f

I tried the LSP-based Java extension for VSCode on a large project (~2M lines, large Gradle build) and it was unusably slow. More than 30s for a "Go To Definition" command with my CPU pegged the whole time. Caveats: It's poss

Even though I'm not a fan of go myself, it does work well for small, simple utilities - it's lightweight, fast, and compiles to self-contained executables, with no dependency on a runtime like Node.js, Python, or a JRE. There are
