VTable structs. Instead of declaring `interface Foo { void bar(); }`, you do `struct Foo { this: void, bar: const fn (this: *void); }` (i.e. a struct with a function pointer field and a "this" pointer). This is how interfaces wo

I think cashless, in the sense of "all money is digital", is probably a net bad thing. Remember, there are governments and organizations today that don't believe in basic freedoms: one could, for example, know if someone gets

No, "asleep" is the opposite of "awake". Woke is a different construct. Maybe an antonym to "woke" could be "slept"?

Interstellar travel solves the "finite resources" problem. Granted, intrastellar travel can do that as well: Earth's moon first for its H3, then use that as a launchpad to go other places for resources that are limited or run

You can grab JSON data of all ISO recognized countries and their address formats on GitHub (apologies, I forget the repo name. IIRC there is more than one). I don't know if it's 100% accurate, but it's not very hard to implem

I don't think there is an "official" definition for AAA, since it's mostly a buzzword. However, according to Wikipedia AAA refers to games "distributed by a mid-sized or major publisher". In that sense, I think

There's been a recent explosion in mesh sizes because of Nanite as well. A lot of devs who don't understand optimization will pull in a 1+ GB movie-quality mesh and just slap Nanite on it, even though they'll never need that

This is completely false. Unity is popular with AAA, as is Unreal Engine. Both are less popular than having an in-house engine. Source: I work in the games industry.

I got so fed up with Windows 11 and Microsoft's BS that I bought a new PC with an AMD processor and GPU so I could daily drive Linux (for context, NVIDIA hates open source and so there aren't any good drivers on Linux). I've

It seems extremely unlikely to me that ML models will ever run entire games. Nobody wants a game that's "entirely indistinguishable from reality" anyways. If they did, they would go outside. I think it's possible specifi

> Do you have any examples of this? Not GP, but at my old job making games we had a truly horrendous asset import pipeline. A big chunk of it was a human going through a menial 30 minute process that was identical for each set of assets.

This article is both low-effort and uninformative. TFA states they have never used the app, but there are "lessons to be learned." I got more information about the subject by reading this comment thread.

Indeed. In the case of self-referential borrows, this is not allowed because Rust wants copying structures byte-for-byte (e.g. `memcpy`) to always be safe. The solution was `Pin<T>` et. al., which gives a way to make some value immova

I've tried it, and I don't like it. There's too much confabulation to be useful as code completion, and any task more complicated than that results in logic errors most of the time. Code completion was fine without LLMs, and
