This would make sense if you were talking about the old Element app, but Element X is generally seen as a night and day improvement. Can you say what the problems are on Element X? Trying to speak dispassionately as someone who lives their

Are you having these problems on Element X or Element Classic (the old mobile app, which is in maintenance mode?) (Element Classic used a mix of legacy Matrix voip calling for 1:1 and Jitsi for group calling; Element X has switched to nativ

It is absolutely possible to have a Matrix deployment that works seamlessly. It's true though that a lot of people are very unhappy at the transition from Element to Element X, hence the recent complaining threads. You can see a respo

This feels very strange: the clients on that page span a huge range of maturity and capability. If you put every email client or every web browser on a single page you’d get a crazy mix too - does that mean that email & the web have fai

nobody asked Matrix to comply with this (as far as I know). like Mastodon/ActivityPub, it's a bit of a lost cause to try to block a decentralised protocol in practice.

nope, because the matrix-org branch of synapse was archived at the end of 2023, so you'd be horribly out of date and insecure; instead the team who wrote Synapse switched to AGPL and now release it at github.com/element-hq.

Thanks for all the positive vibes & hugops folks :D Fwiw, the DB isn't corrupted - the database 2ndary dropped its RAID array on having new disks added (the hw raid controller incorrectly added them into the array, breaking it)...

There's around 50M rooms, and the dataset is back to 2014. However, much of the room is taken up by the Synapse DB schema being particularly denormalised (prioritising performance over disk footprint) - especially caching snapshots of

Matrix.org itself doesn't publish an 'official' way to run a server, given there are multiple implementations and distros out there. If you're happy using kubernetes, https://element.io/server-suite/

Thanks. We used to relay the videos as a podcast here: https://matrix.org/podcasts but it looks like the automation stopped in 2022 and nobody noticed or complained :S I think most people follow it on YT.
