My hate for the overuse of "app", isn't a good number of them just web wrappers?

Maybe if the site wasn't a bloated mess of useless or barely working features, people would be willing to turn off their adblocks. Plus I bet they do get their money through some tax loops or some other form light money launder. If not

No. If the search engine thinks I meant something else, it's supposed to ask "did you mean [something else]?" and not guess that I'm incapable of writing 4 characters correctly and serve me the wrong results. That's

...not that kind of guessing. Obviously. That's not "similar to the search query", that's just different meanings of words/phrases. I didn't say anything about that, but it looks like you didn't read past

Actually, I've noticed that DGG is way overdoing guessing. More often than not I get results that are only similar to the search query in some way instead of actually what I'm looking for. This has been getting worse over time for

A company that slurps all contacts and calendar entries from customers' smartphones without their explicit consent and without a way to opt out from it is talking about privacy.

Wow, so much potential. There's some weird formatting going on though. I might be using slightly old and lightweight e-mail client (M2 in Opera12), but I still don't think it should look like this http://puu.sh/fTY

I stopped using LinkedIn right after I heard that it harvests contact details from emails. Thankfully, being "paranoid", I've never allowed it to access that data. After that I deleted my account. Two years later, I received

My main problem is that it's longer than "tens". And I have 10 fingers. And I use base-10 for everything, including counting the dozens. It's just more logical (and I say that without reading through the wiki page, so so

Next step: metric measurement units everywhere. I've been waiting for that for decades. If "dozens" would die as well, even better.

This really seems like excusing the underperforming education system in US and cultural glorification of language bastardization. Every language has some areas that are difficult to grasp and English is one of the easier languages, as most

Yeah, well, I keep removing apostrophes from (most) plurals. It's a plague. Except I'm not proficient enough to make any software that could help me, so I do that only when I happen to stumble upon it, heh.

I think most people do that, question is whether that also negates any subconscious perception modifiers (sorry, I don't know what else to call that). Like when "feel good" commercials make you associate the product with good

It's a form of (marketing?) deception, isn't it? One that's been running for so long that it altered how people perceive prices. Am I the only one who doesn't like these kind of practices?

Based on those guidelines, people wouldn't complain at all except few cases of complaining directly to the source of the subject at hand. It feels to me like something between promoting apathy and this: http://markmanson.net

The thing is, where do we draw the line in "things we cannot change"? Are we supposed to stop complaining about design decisions of some software? About corrupt politics? The noisy neighbour?

I'm curious, does EFF fight for the global "internet freedom" or just for American one? I know those two are tied, but they aren't the same.
