Sometimes even "regular" ASCII surnames cause problems. When written in the Latin alphabet, my surname is one letter. I've had an amazing amount of problems with this not just due to technical limitations (like various forms

Software engineers have career choices. We're not talking about a 'do evil shit or be unemployed' situation here.

Yes, you're totally right. If the conditions are met that you are 1) behind a CG-NAT, and 2) a statistically significant sample of other users on that CG-NAT is using the same VPN node, then yes it "could be a very effective form

I don't at all see how you managed to jump to the conclusion that vegans are "or are at least subjected to more of an echo-chamber effect from their peers". This seems entirely unfounded.

There are hundreds, if not thousands, of VPN services. Why would someone you care about targeting use your specific one? Or is the point that you're just conducting a massive dragnet operation to see what you find? In that case, it

What's the point of paying anonymously if you are presumably going to be connecting to it from your IP anyway? Unless you're using it with another anonymizing option first.

What I don't understand: this person seems highly intelligent, I mean he's a nuclear engineer for crying out loud, but yet reading their email correspondence he comes off extremely stupid. How can we reconcile this?
