Heh, I used to have so many opinions on how to run software companies. Ideal team sizes, methodologies, remote vs office. Now I'm seasoned with enough experience to know that no matter what the "best practice", some companie

It _was_ alot of money, but maybe not anymore. That is the effect of all this government largess. The value of a certain sum of money is dropping.

I'm happy with cockroachdb lately. It is drop in replacement for postgres for most apps. It is quite a joy to use now. They have a new PAYG serveless offering that starts at $0 and scales up.

Specifically for long trips: if I drive on a long trip (say, 10 hours at the speed limit, on high quality highways), given the fixed distance, how does my risk of a fatality change if I drive 20% faster and thus spend 2 hours less in the c

I can't offer you advice, but I am wondering, in the use case of "lightweight", what do we think JS is needed for? Why not go plain HTML? (with the odd little JS snippet for anywhere it is truly needed)

Yes, but the full-range refill takes only a few minutes, and generally at a station that has room for you to refuel while a trailer is attached. There's still a ways to go.

In practice, because you only need the one binary, and not all of the usual dynamically loaded libraries, it can appear large and yet be small overall.

It would be so much easier if the RAM just got moved onto the CPU. As chips get more dense and NAND becomes cheaper, I could see rowhammer-susceptible DRAM just going away completely for many forms of computing.
