Unfortunately the SATA backplanes are only aligned one way, so they could only rotate a set of 5 drives at once.

FWIW, Your site didnt seem very professional until I got to the pricing page. Both the content of this page and the pricing level of the product sent a clear signal that this was a "serious", enterprise-aimed product. The rest of the site

Here are some reasons why: 1. Poor availability of app store in many countries in the world compared to iPhone 2. Ability to purchase apps outside the appstore - I bought an app from an author's website directly, paying by Paypal. 3. Fewer

Certainly, most operating systems can run in 32MB. It would be nice even if only so the BIOS can boot up and print to the screen, "Hey, RAM slot #3 isn't plugged in right!" instead of the usual black-screen-and-long-beep

Yes, and this would have been the correct way to fix the situation. Gracefully reduce the available CPU for the offending VPS, and notify the customer. Breaking in is OK as a last resort.

Speaking for myself, if I was hiring someone to do a website, or a CMS, I couldn't care less if they had a B.Sc. or not. I wouldn't check, and I certainly wouldn't let it change my mind about the price being charged.

You missed my point: If they give you some more disk space then they have to decrease everyone else's space. What you're suggesting means buying a new "pie", because they've sliced up the existing pie and allocated all of it, completely.

I switched to 1.9 for several greenfields projects. The postgresql gem builds cleanly, as does thin, which can be used in place of mongrel. The biggest gotcha was having to modify my application to explicitly open text files in UTF8 mode.

One outcome that is highly likely is that the processors will be highly integrated, with the whole system on a chip: CPU, GPU, memory controller, network/storage/pci/usb/etc controllers.

I run a small VPS hosting company. You are right; the hardware cost is only a small part of the total outgoings for this type of business. In that regard, the pricing model tends towards how big a slice of the 'pie' each customer gets to bu

Unearned revenue seems like a very dangerous thing for a most startups to have. It makes accounting more difficult, and unless you are careful not to spend it, you risk a 'run on the bank' if a large group of your customers demand refunds.

Twitter, when you get down to it, is like IRC where everyone has their own channel. When you "follow" a friend, you are joining their channel. IRC is decentralised and is an open, free protocol. I would prefer to keep using IRC but I have

I just found a benchmark on Intel's site that shows the effect of enabling the text processing instructions in SSE4.2. They claim a 25% speedup for XML parsing and 37% for XML validating.
