No, to be professional would mean not sending that private email in the first place. It actually makes me wonder how you treat your customers if they piss you off.

IIRC, Apple's very first SSD offerings were based on Intel SSDs. The move to Samsung came when Apple decided to go leadfree/halogenfree/eco-friendly and the Intel chips didnt have the correct qualifications.

There's more to "communicating to the customer" than just putting it out there. Maybe a wall of text is just as bad as traditional "fine-print". If you think you made the conditions clear but you get unhappy customers anyway, you've failed

The problem is it wouldn't be difficult for Amazon to start charging based on how much storage space you're consuming , which would pull the rug from under their feet.

What are the details of crawl-delay? If its supposed to be "number of seconds between hits", for some sites, 1 hit per second may as well be "not crawled at all"..

I tend to agree with you. All the professor had to reply was: "Sorry, I find it really hard to teach when people walk in late, so that is the reason for the policy." There was no sense of humbleness, or trying to see any alternative point

CPU caches will soon be big enough, and flash fast enough, that there won't be any system RAM anymore. Your programs will basically run directly out of flash, and made performant thanks to huge CPU cache.

I have implemented a skip list library that stores all nodes of the same "level" together in the same file/memory map. This fixes the cache locality problem. Skip lists also lend themselves well to concurrent multi-threaded access, especial

I have to admit, I was annoyed when I discovered the world of discrete maths that high school focused so much on calculus and algebra. I think my class maths would have been better off understanding how to tackle counting and probability pr

Hehe. I think what you'll see happening is that most Rails users will still continue to use what comes built in to Rails and not take advantage of being able to plug in other ORMs. The flexibility was needed to make it easier for developers

This is a good attitude, and sounds like you work at a place with a good culture. The emphasis is on sustainability - if you can make some small forward progress every day over a long period, the project is more likely to succeed and every

The next step is hardware-based key-value stores. Generic Wintel PC servers waste an incredible amount of power if all you need is a RAM-based key value store connected to the network. Contact me with funding proposal if interested .. :-)

That to me is the real message from this: That twitter failed to implement and integrate this feature into their own service, and are missing out on a pretty decent revenue stream.
