This is actually the final step for me. I've been an avid Google fan since the early days. I use all the Google services, I use Chrome religiously, I convince family/friends to switch to Chrome from IE, and I've always been convinced Google

Yeah I used to travel from 10yrs-14yrs alone, back/forth EU<->AU 4 times a year return. I had the same treatment. Random bumps up to higher class seats, driven from gate to gate on those electric carts when I needed to do a transfer

I honestly thought this was another one of those "Let's post a 10 year old article to reminisce" posts... To be honest, i'm semi-impressed this is still a thing. I assumed it had died in the late 90s. It's also scary of course, that these p

All of those features require constant data streams except one. In a country like Australia where we have data caps, pretty much the ONLY feature above that will actually benefit us, is the feature that involves us turning the console off.

I read somewhere (but can't find it now) that they're teaming up with sunglass and glasses companies to integrate it into their products, and that this is just the "base" model direct from Google, aimed more at geeks/early adopters.

How is it supposed to trick you, when you can feel exactly how much you ate when you put it into your mouth? Not to mention you KNOW that everything you're looking at is bigger, because you put the AR headset on in the first place to do exa

Yeah I ended up talking to management and arranged to work from home a few days a week, mostly coming in on meeting days or team stuff. I asked them for a trial initially, and when they saw how productive I was when I wasn't in, they were i

As a (mid 30s) guy with a lot of tattoos (sleeves, etc), it hasn't caused any issues for me. I have worked for the last 4 years in a relatively high end corporate IT environment, meeting with stakeholders, executives, etc and never had an i

I want native apps more so I can sell the apps easier. Until there is an easy way to package/sell web apps or monetise them better, I think native apps are still the way to go. Plus everyone I know whinges/complains about the apps that "wra

This annoyed me a bit as well. I really wish they'd chosen a unique name so people wouldn't get confused. Just like Ducati with the "Streetfighter", using an existing name from the same industry just leads to confused customers and even mor

I'm not sure where I saw it, but I once saw a blog post that just had the main line of each paragraph bolded, and at the top said "For the TL;DR read the bold bits"... as much as random bolded sentences through an article can be kind of ann

I've backed a fair few (over a dozen) KickStarter projects, and every single time I've seen it as a risky investment with the HOPE of getting an awesome product out of it. Some of my backings have been in the few-hundred-dollar range, and a

I use Street View probably about as much as I use the Maps themselves. Any time I'm going somewhere, I'll map it, then Street View it, so I know what I'm looking for. Street View is one of my favourite things Google has done in years, and I

Agreed, this doesn't surprise me at all these days. Even my dad has Google Alerts set up for his name, so I'd expect it to be pretty much a guaranteed given that most companies would have it set up for their trademarks.

That's the bit that surprised me most about this article. Controllers for phones are NOT new. iCade Mobile, iControlPad, and the umpteen bluetooth ones that don't clip on, but connect wirelessly and give you a PROPER gamepad for your iPhone

My massive decline in use is directly correlated to how annoying they've made it to use. Eg: You can't have your feed always sort by "Most Recent", it keeps defaulting to "Top Stories", keeping old/stagnant stories at the top of my feed jus

I'm another linux fan that just did NOT see the appeal to an "oversized phone", and also got burned by how crappy earlier versions of Android were. I've ignored all the tablets that came out, iPads, Android tablets, all of them... then when

I've been preaching for years that we need to get rid of TLDs. If we truly want the web to be a global/borderless place, get rid of the extensions and let us do http://companyname/ (I know it currently can't work like that, but I'm sure a

News.com.au is essentially an Australian tabloid. Then they quote their source as being (what I believe is) essentially a British tabloid. This isn't exactly what I expect to see at the top of HN?

Just seeing the footer, with the browser buttons and counter, gave me one of the craziest "chills up spine" nostalgia-flashbacks I've had in years. That alone was worth the click.
