The problem with web3 and crypto in general is that most people and energy get attracted by the potential to get rich, and being useful is an afterthought. I would be more attracted if I saw more products that tried to be useful first, and

There's a huge amount of overproduced managers and elites on universities who don't participate in the productive economy, and the culture war is a tool they use to compete among themselves and to create job programs for their cla

Same, GTD on a paper planner, because many times I can do planning work but don't feel like staring at a screen. But regarding OP's question about TODO lists, a TODO list should go nowhere near a GTD system. It should go on "

I guess that depends on your definition of "winning" a nuclear. Would getting Europe flattened and losing a couple US cities be considered a win? I guess not for the europeans. Maybe for the US.

A lot of this got accelerated through Covid policies, "never let a good crisis go to waste" as they saying goes. Many systems that were put in place, can be repurposed for other goals.

Yes, I think it's hard for normal people to use those networks because at this point they are unable to replicate the network effects of centralized media, as in there is no simple way of going from 1to1 communication and build from th

Well, there's nothing properly developed, that's why we are still here. The basic building blocks are all there, cryptography for privacy and identity. p2p networks for data transfer have worked in the piracy world for many years

Yes, at this point of the internet, the fact that most people have decided to depend on big platforms and not develop properly all the distributed alternatives available for many years, it's hard to blame anybody except ourselves.

If you run an anti-harassment office and you get rid of harassment, you are out of a job and out of power. If you keep finding more and more harassment, you are set for life. Plus if you try to tone it down there's 50 juniors behind yo

I think it's probably more about job programs and power grabs than about culture. This type of cultural battles let some type of people with some types of university degrees to insert themselves as middle-managers in spaces that before

I think seeing how things ended up for Russia after they opened up to the west in the 90s when the Harvard economists swooped in to transform then into a capitalist country explains most of it [1] [2] It is different for many young people w

Depends what "poverty" means. A lot of poor people were subsistance farmers, able to hold property and carve a space for themselves and their families in the world. That's something that will be out of reach for many "ri

Maybe it would be better if we stopped pretending that most political decisions have anything to do with science (specially social science) and just admit that it's about conflicting interests that will have to be mediated.

Couldn't this be solved by chains of trust and "blacklisting" accounts? This is pretty much how it already works in the most annonymous corners of the internet, and those are the best corners.
