Wasn't smell loss always a (possible) symptom of a common cold? I feel like I'm going crazy, but half the things that people act like never happened before Covid, have always been things that were possible with a respiratory infection. They just weren't considered a big deal, so you just got used to it.
I'm not saying Covid is not worse. But I hardly see these issues addressed as "this is worse" or "this is more common" with Covid, but as "this is new".

- ksaj 4y agoLoss of smell and flavour (not taste itself) during a cold is temporary and not a big issue because it is caused by your nose being stuffy and nasal passages coated with thick mucous. Anosmia from Covid is caused by viral damage, and persists without surrounding related symptoms.
