I owned a Crown Victoria, particularly at night - if I didn't drive 10+ over the speed limit I'd bring the freeway to a halt. At night I could part the red sea with it (people would just move out of my way if I was going like I wa

I like the vintage stuff because its usually easier to operate, and better built. My vintage west bend percolator makes the best coffee you'll have - it makes maxwell house taste good. I have 60 year old Zenith radios that work great,

I also have rotary phones, use vintage radios, prefer vintage appliances, and listen to vinyl. I thought I was a little odd - nope, I'm just a normal level of odd in comparison.

I think within reason, people should be able to chose their own destiny - we shouldn't lie to ourselves however and assign people agency in cases where they have none - most employees have little agency to exercise in the relationship

It's not clear that this would affect how a state agency regulates, or their regulatory power. Federal and State authority are derived from different sources.

I dont believe it to be an outrageous statement that late polytheistic roman empire was more tolerant than early christian monotheistic roman empire. As a parallel commenter noted however, the level of official tolerance varied by era,

There is a good coherent argument that the conversion to Christianity added additional instability to a system that was already very unstable. It may not have been fatal, but it probably contributed to a process that was already happening.

But what other sects was it tolerant of? Being intolerant of an insurgent monotheistic faith doesn't mean that it was not broadly tolerant of other faiths.

No disagreement - my point was that the adoption of Christianity all at once as the state faith, reduced religious tolerance, particularly in the early years. But yeah that was part of what I was getting at - but I kinda just responded with
