That's not really my experience, nor do I really understand why people seem to say knockout and backbone in the same breath so often. There is very little overlap in the goals of these two frameworks. The approach is fundamentally different

Is there a particular reason you went with short polling over sockets? I see your building on jetty at the moment, which is pretty tried and tested I guess, but pushing a huge volume of json objects around over the http.

Couldn't have said it better myself. The main theme of the reddit topic on this seemed to be people excited about 'only paying for what they want', yet by doing so you remove the main advantage of mass production; lower per unit price.
