In many societies they mutilate the genitals of female children. In many others they carry out honor killings when a member of the family acts, as they see it, incorrectly. These are two examples of aspect of society that vary from culture

Avoiding particular sellers is no guarantee, since Amazon comingles inventory in the warehouse. You can order from seller A, who is completely legitimate, and receive fraudulent goods seller B supplied.

Our government is actually set up, quite intentionally, to avoid making this possible. It's one of the core purposes of a republic. You can go back and read Plato discussing the exact idea that democracy is dangerous because the poor w

They claim this is because of their focus on Kubernetes, but I have to wonder how much of this has to do with Microsoft acquiring Github. That aside, that's a tough slight for AKS.

Executions were of condemned criminals. The Western world, and many others, mobilized to stop Nazi Germany. Lynching was an illegal act. I'm not sure those really compare to industrial scale ritual sacrifice as a cornerstone of the soc

I would suggest that Abu Ghraib represented Imperialism more than Capitalism or Democracy. But I would also say it's a false comparison. There's a massive difference in frequency and scale.

I read quite a lot of ancient philosophy and grappled with basically this exact thought. It was a bit painful to feel as though we've intellectually slid backwards. There is a theory that calls that era the Axial Age, which is worth lo

I've been thinking about the concept of censorship by tech companies lately, and I've come to a question I'm not sure the answer to. Ethically, why is society ok with forcing a company to provide a service they find morally r

What you're getting at is the difference between Negative Rights and Positive Rights. Negative Rights guarantee inaction, e.g. the government can't suppress your speech or take away your ability to defend yourself. Positive Rights

Yes, we've been running a Kubernetes cluster on AWS, built with kops, for about a year. Very happy with it, but there have been some organizational pains getting everyone on board. Nothing I would fault Kubernetes itself for.
