I think you missed the part where I mentioned the content was targeted towards dentists and dental professionals. Our typical visitor would be a dentist in his 50s or 60s looking up some medical text. They generally had almost no technical

The images were being served through a PHP passthrough script at /media/$ID You would have no way of knowing if the image was an ad or part of the article content since they were all served through the same thing. No silly subdoma

I used to work for a small company that did print (and web) medical journals targeted at dentists and dental professionals. We handled all the ads ourselves and hosted the images on our server as any other image. This meant we were basicall

I think people are also confusing an old issue from PHP 4.x where if you had $_POST['somevar'] it would actually have an alias automatically set as $somevar in the global userspace. This was turned off by default a long time ago a

I don't get why people keep harping on super globals are being inherently bad. The variables are there. You can use them or ignore them. A variable definition harms you in no way other than a tiny bit of memory usage which is capped by

I don't like framing this debate in the prism of government versus private company policing. Freedom of speech is not mutually exclusive to the government. Consider a programming club meeting once a week that is open to the public. You

I don't really see us getting many more IT/CS engineers anytime soon. The amount of businesses that actually need a programmer / tech person on staff keeps increasing while the amount of engineers out there stays relatively t
