Definitely more powerful but well crafted GUIs can enforce constraints on inputs and preview what changes would look like. Agree that I have never seen a GIS tool where I thought the GUI was top notch.

This is pretty parsimonious. Smart, capable, ambitious people often engage in wishful thinking when it comes to analysing systems they are a part of. When looking at a system from the outside it’s easier to realise the boundary between your

I think to a large extent this is correct but, being the devils advocate, perhaps if the GIS tool were better then your friend wouldn’t have had quite as big a gain in free time? Answering my own question somewhat, I think that LLMs are bec

Bingo. There are real profits in the chip space and considering that there are 3 fabs and one clear leader who will make anything for anyone this is a sign that NVIDIA are doing a great job.

I received my first piece of spam on iMessage last week (used it since 2011) and it was deleted instantly by Apple. I presume because they identified and removed the account's iMessage privileges. Any messaging app that permits spam is

The comment you’re replying to is making that point: that people who earn a decent wage from the knowledge economy are threatened by AI and oppose it because of their interest in the current system’s inequality. It follows that if it is unj

Sure but X had loads of tech debt and a pretty big architectural flaw that was a security risk. Two birds and one stone.

Well said. I am not a GUI programmer but I have watched heaps of talks from the X11/Wayland devs to get a handle on the arguments and it seems to me that while Wayland has some actual architectural issues (screensharing is hard) they p

I agree to an extent. If you are in tech the Linux process shouldn’t be too bad. Installing Arch is a good lesson in learning what you’re doing. Totally doable but you’re spoken to like an adult. I think it’s pretty contrary to most expecta
