Haha, yes. My confidence dancing was terrible for years because of similar advice. Turns out all the girls and boys who were good had been practicing! Who would have thought.

Holy moly, I am so triggered. I have never seen so many kids harmed by bad pedagogy as “just do what comes naturally”. My daughter’s PE teacher gaslit her into thinking she was left handed with this advice and just created the belief that s

If there were layoffs coming 100% these women could have been chosen as retaliatory action as part of a wider campaign of discrimination. A big part of doing layoffs is finding non-discriminatory reasons to lay off people you don’t like. An

Occasionally I have to help my father with his windows computer and each time it actually gets worse. Edge. Suggestions. Like I am sure the actual fundamentals of the OS are fairly high quality but holy shit it sucks to use.

If there are zero airliner whistleblowers then there are no airliner whistleblowers go which it is not happening. Though, I was referring to just whistleblowers.

And OpenBSD is doing this because? (Presumably it reduces attack surface by getting exploits in the session out of the listener but does it have greater significance?)

Pretty much exactly what is needed. Helix shows the way IMO but the Neovim guys are clearly not conservative. Exciting to see the tree sitter and lsp improvements.

It’s an interesting thought. China, at least in the late 20th C, offered many western travellers a glimpse into this idea whereby a local would realise they don’t speak their language and then attempt to make the characters to the westerner

Yep. The internet means information can be shared almost anywhere on earth simultaneously, and so a great deal of human effort must be spent ensuring this does not happen.

This only holds if you consider written language the same as spoken language. Which I think is an interesting idea. Languages are symbolic systems of representation. Whether they map onto a spoken language, a signed language, or reality its

I am a little jealous of my friends with switches. They seem to "just work" 99% of the time. What paid off for Nintendo was a willingness to bet on games and take risks on changing up their strategy. Other gaming experiences, iron
