I tried that days ago with Wireshark. SimCity uses SSL for server communication and it has hard coded certificates - it does not use the OS SSL certificates. This prevents you from using a self signed cert to decrypt the data, at least with

Each game "Server" for SimCity is actually an Amazon EC2 cluster of servers, with 1 central master DB server. Even when the servers were "full" on game launch, all of the EC2 servers were responding to requests normally - it was the cluster

If I had to guess, I would say because GP didn't actually give any real reasons why adding complexity (a new language) would improve or solve a problem. Advocating languages is fine, we all have our pet languages, but it is important to rem

At Valve, developers work on the projects that interest them. I imagine the actual Steam client is not that interesting of a task compared to HL3 or Portal 3, etc. Seems worthwhile to mention the (leaked?) Valve Handbook. It explains a lot

Anecdotally, I've found the CMS is still a bit better (10-15% faster) than the newer G1, but the G1 has some features which make me inclined to use it. The G1 will return memory to the system, which I have never observed the CMS do, despite

I had the same thought. It's a bit of a paradox. If he is living a healthy asocial lifestyle, there is little chance he would need to externalize his internal thoughts. So by writing an essay on his healthy asocial lifestyle, he contradicts

You seem to have a significant bias against leading an asocial lifestyle. I suggest that this says more about you then it does the OP.

I personally believe that errors of omission and misleading details are identical to dishonesty, but I understand not everyone may see it that way. That is why I said it was misleading, and parenthesized my judgement of it (dishonest).

Disagree. Go read the NYT editorial response, it's so full of spin it could serve as an amusement park ride. It only served to muddy the waters, give some kind of half-not-apology, in the hopes the issue would drop. I'm surprised so many pe

This is correct, and worth pointing out, because the OP has this line: >So now you owe an extra 10% on your $40K salary which is $4K. And you also owe 35% on that $50k which is around $18K. Which is false. The extra 50k is taxed more t
