I wonder if there is interest in someone building a search site that uses the google custom search API to search. The CSE that Google provides does not include advertising or local results unless specifically requested. The only problem wou

I agree. I have a much, much harder time remembering complex passwords over longer ones. I can barely remember my SSN, and that's about the length for complex patterns of numbers/symbols for most people. Long strings for passwords

I hate dining etiquette. It's a fancy way of saying " doing something a specific way because that's the way everyone else does it ". Groupthink at it's highest. I eat whatever way is best suited for the meal.

Its easy to complain about the low pandora royalties, but these artists are essentially trying to kill the golden goose. Pandora currently spends > 50% of revenue on royalties. Any increases would almost certainly lead to the end of the

I wish those questions would be moved to the relevant StackExchange site. Often times it's just a case of misplaced question, where it might fit better in superuser or it. It should be moved in those cases.

Your interpretation of Karma may be correct, but I was responding to the author's views on Karma. I urge you to go read it again, his are the under-informed, dangerous sort.

It's fun to hate on Java (cause who here hasn't hit stupidity with Java?), but the fact is that Java does a lot right. There are two types of languages, the languages people hate and the languages no one uses.

I just switched from MySQL to MariaDB on a ubuntu image and it was completely painless. Took the 30 seconds to enter the commands. No config editing, and it imported my old databases. Props to the MariaDB team.
