I think this is why I enjoy working on FOSS projects a lot. At the end of the day, it is really great to interact with users and know you improved someone else's day, even a little bit.

Caveat emptor. A rule of thumb I learned from my parents long ago is when you see something you want to have, wait two weeks. If you still want it in two weeks, and can afford it, then buy it. I suspect a little bit of waiting and research

Why wouldn't it be true? $5000 was as useless as $0 would be, as they needed $24000 to cover fuel expenses for the next week. So if he lost the gamble, there would be no change in ultimate outcome.

It reminds me of 1984, where the party is perpetually rewriting history to fit their narrative. This is it, history is being rewritten. He who controls the past controls the future. He who controls the present controls the past

Desalination has a fixed energy cost that can't be "innovated" away. It requires at minimum, 1kwH/m^3, in a completely 100% energy efficient system (such a perfect system does not exist). That is the base energy required

No wonder Google lets many services languish. With a system of promotion based on launches of new products/services/features there is no personal incentive to make things work long term. It seems like the person who redesigns the

I have never seen Sun or Oracle make that claim. You seem to simply be ranting on about a strawman argument, with a rather strange java-hate obsession. I mean, Fortran did worse than Java. Where is your writeup for that?
