I feel like it should be up to valve to fix this no? It feels like it should be possible to require an email for everyone that wants to start a server and then boot all of the ones that cannot be bothered to reply to your messages to stop s

I’m not quite sure I see how building directx and building an alien spaceship are incompatible. Nor how either translates to being a bad hire.

You think Gabe will sell to PE? You need someone willing to sell to be able to buy something. I’m betting that won’t happen, and that the next BDFL is not going to run the thing into the ground fast enough for it to matter to me.

That doesn’t matter. If I’m going to spend 40% of my time alive somewhere, you bet a requirement is that I’m not working on ridiculously outdated hardware. If you are paying me $200k a year to sit around waiting for my PC to boot up, simply

I think my employer hed a contest to see which of 4 office chairs people liked the most, then they bought the one that everyone hated. I’m not quite sure anymore what kind of reason was given.

Actually, just time spent compiling, or waiting for other builds to finish makes investing in the top level macbook pro worth it every 3 years. I think the calculation assumed something like 1-2% of my time was spent compiling, and I cost l

The state exists to protect the majority from the minority. If the majority believes phones are bad, then they’ll be banned in schools to prevent whatever effect having them would have.

I think the phones are one thing. It was a bit distressing to hear that US schools have “school shooting drills” like Japan schools have “earthquake drills”.

That's nonsense. It's like feeling you need to disclose that your IDE has autocomplete. Nobody discloses that, since it's ridiculous. You only disclose that you used Claude Code if you are not certain of the result (e.g. you

That’s bizarre. Why would you call outsourcing your user management to Google SSO? That’s a feature provided by most spam systems to authenticate you, not a serious business application.

It’s kinda funny right? You’d expect the number of comments to rise with the number of users, but aside from a few highly controversial topics we still have posts on the front page that barely get to triple digits comments, if even.
