Technically its passing 'a list -> 'a list, and only becoming an int array because thats the final input value. The fsharp functions are closer to the C# functions Func<List<IComparable>, List<IComparable>>

Great thing about this article is that it treats C# with respect, even as it lambasts it :) Good examples real world situations, no exaggerations. FSharp For Fun and Profit often uses straw-man implementations of C# to compare against, whic

For text processing in F# there is a library called FParsec, which is really powerful: http://www.quanttec.com/fparsec/ Regarding JIT and Go, I've built identical programs in both and while Go is faster, its not b

Speaking as someone who has been doing C# for over 15 years, and still professionally, but who uses F# almost exclusively in my private projects, the biggest things are: - discriminated unions. DU types don't exist in C# or lots of oth

I probably don't need to use bitmaps as maps at all, really; Text files would work just as well. But using System.Drawing cross platform in .net core was an education in itself, so I think worth it :)

I built a 2D platformer in it: https://github.com/ChrisPritchard/MiniKnight Also uses MonoGame, and its all running on dotnet core. Reasonably sizable, though still more of an exercise than production quality.

Because if you are a top-notch C# dev, F# is just like you normally code but with less brackets and null reference exceptions. Also, you haven't experienced implicit typing until you have used F#'s ridiculously powerful approach t

Reminds me of result types and ROP in functional languages, especially F#. Except in F# callers must handle all conditions. Maybe they can add that check to golint.

Great article :) Particularly the summary where the author asks whether issues we have now might be similarly due to ignorance that we will condemn in 60 years.

Deux Ex runs on modern PCs without issue using the GoG or Steam version. I play it without visual mods, and it still holds up.

The other morning I felt a scratching on the underside of my foot, while I had my coffee. One of these things had crept into the lounge overnight - it was its long antennae that were tickling my toes. I am homeless now, but still worried th

There are samples on the CoreRT site, which are a good place to start. I found some of their discussions useful too when finding bits to put into rd.xml, like newtonsoft.json

You can with aspnet core. Bit tricky tracking down all the reflection types in the rd.xml file, but once done it results in a really nice, zippy little deployment

Try inverting your thinking - how would you like it if the only way you can get treated with respect is to allow others to assume you are something you are not? Its textbook alienation. On SO its likely not as bad as the rest of the net, bu

The other great thing about CoreCLR, though probably a bit niche, is it would allow other languages to be more easily used for Unity dev. F# for example, is part of dotnet core by default.
