This was a solid write up; I've been using K8s (intermittently) for like, 5 years now, and I still spend an inordinate amount of time looking things up and trying to convert the nonsense naming conventions used to something understanda

You could always call them just-in-time tariffs? I don't like them personally, but I can certainly understand the desire to incentivize what you like, and disincentivize what you do not.

Wow, this is the kind of tool that would have been a game changer when I was learning python; being able to see what is happening under the covers is part of the critical path for me to learn a language, and native python debugging is und

Hmmmmmmmm the places where riding the subway means obeying social norms, continue to build subways. The places where riding the subway does not require any social norms be obeyed, have stopped.

For a second, I thought median filtering was going to be about riding motorcycles down the median of a road to filter through traffic.....

Risk avoidance has its place, but fear didn't get us to the moon the first time and I'm confident it wont work this time either.

450M just for building the robot seems a bit steep; its not like they're actually getting it to the moon for that price. How much cheaper is it than just sending 3 dudes in a tin can to just dig the holes themselves? Edit: I guess NASA

I like the "idea" of saving the ISS; but as a whole that seems like wishful thinking. Perhaps a subset of modules could be salvaged/boosted into a higher orbit, or if I let my heart really dream - we could get started on our

Privatized DMVs in Ohio were the absolute best DMVs to go to. Actually, I'm pretty sure they called them BMVs, but still, the private ones were great. The public DMVs in Ohio wern't too bad, but there was a clear lack of motivatio

With the amount of semi-trucks I see on the highway crisscrossing this country constantly it seems it might be better to just focus on getting our existing freight traffic off the roads before we worry about passenger traffic. *I'm not

I thought maybe I was just getting old and crusty, but this really does capture my primary complaint with K8s - everything that isn't standard, is so special and unrelated to the underlying technology that you need to relearn how K8&#x

Honestly if most debuggers did what the author suggests in the first paragraph, I'd use them 10x more. Other than Pry for ruby I've not found many to debugger tools that let me drop into code, run parts of it, examine variables et

I'm a bit addicted to Rimworld when it comes to this genre, but I bought DF just to support the OG's - plus I wasted 4 months on a terrible contract job and the only thing that kept me sane was playing Liberal crime squad in the b

I'm still a shameless ruby fanboy at heart. To be fair, its almost all devops type tasks but there is something about that language that just clicks with me, and while I def have to use python more than ruby, I still love ruby.

My father taught me early on that lending a friend $20 was one of the cheapest ways to find out what kind of a friend you were actually dealing with. It's a valuable lesson, for sure.

There does seem to be a change in the way decisions are being "managed" at least from my perspective; I'm not sure how much of it is related to work from home, and how much is hangover from the "we're all in this to
