Would it in theory be possible to back up only 1 file (of several TB in size), your disk as a block device file, here? Or would this require reuploading the entire disk every time any single file inside changes rather than only the blocks t

In many big asian cities, the nearest MRT stop is less than 5 minutes walking away, there are trains every 3 minutes, they ride fast, and the layout is such that you usually need 0 or 1 transfers to another colored line, can't really b

Underground metros can be way faster than cars stuck in traffic. At least in most cities. The one in NY has slow driving trains compared to any other cities I've seen.

Nice, when can we use them for phones and laptops lasting 72% longer and without fire risk? Genuine question, because optimistic battery articles have been popping up for decades, but here we are still with lithium ion in practice.

I use the old reddit redirect plugin in firefox. If they ever take away old.reddit, that'll be very sad, since reddit will be practically unreadable then for me (due to the large and too image/video-focused new layout), and it sti

How would this work for gaming and phone calls? How would the operating system know whether you're playing music, or gaming/phone calls? Would you want your OS to know whether you're playing music or gaming? (personally I w

AptX (even the non-LL one) is the only codec I know that has acceptable latency where it's even good enough for gaming. Sony WH-1000XM3 had AptX, WH-1000XM4 does not and other latest generation ANC headphones also do not. So headphones

For me KDE 3.5 was still the best. But I use cinnamon now, it comes pretty close. Any attempt to try KDE 4 or KDE plasma over the years made me give up quickly again due to annoying issues (like showing a giant volume icon in the center of

I don't buy that it has to be this complex. We could write to buffers at 60 Hz effortlessly with computers from 1999, speeds have increased more than enough to write to buffers at 120 Hz and more, even with 16x more pixels. 1/120t

Think about all tricks you can so in decimal, but in base 2 instead. E.g in decimal you can multiply by ten by appending a zero, so in binary you multiply by 2 by doing so. And left shifting by 1 is what appends a zero. Or you can take appr
