Seriously, try loading the page with NoScript, and you get nothing. Apparently, it needed nearly a megabyte of JavaScript (somehow managing to make Firefox unresponsive for a several seconds on every page load ) to asynchronously load a 60

I also wish 4chan would switch to open source, self-hosted CAPTCHA and analytics solutions. CAPTCHA especially, because while analytics scripts, tracking images, etc. can easily be blocked, you cannot participate on the site without allowin

I don't entirely buy this. Everyone can improve themselves by mingling with their peers and listening to the pros, so if women were so easily dissuaded by negativity on the internet, you'd expect them to do worse at everything, wh

4chan started as a clone of the Japanese Futaba imageboard, which was itself a variation on the premise of the (also Japanese) 2ch text board. Other people have since made sites that, as I understand them, boil down to "4chan for peopl

Not sure why you're being downvoted. I prefer to directly download long Youtube videos so I don't have to deal with the site's garbage flash and HTML5 video players, but I only do that after I've actually watched a minut

I agree with your argument about 1-based indexing being more intuitive for people with more math than programming experience. I'd even concede that, given Lua's history (as I understand it) as a tool for engineers at PUC-Rio, it w

I thought I was pretty clear about that. Synchronization is relatively straightforward in a realtime system, where your program has total control over the timing of execution. On a desktop operating system, however, the graphics card and it

Why do people have Renaissance fairs, use film cameras, paint instead of using Photoshop, etc? Why do anything? It's fine if it doesn't interest you, but it's not like you need a practical reason to have fun making something.
