I find Mr. Moore no more altruistic than the various "evils" that he frequently attacks. His methods are equally as dubious as his opponents--the difference is he masks himself as a benevolent crusader.

I agree, but I really look at it in terms of what best suits your customer's needs. Thats why I can't wait to get my hands on Atlas and give Cappuccino a whirl. Complete flexibility between desktop and the web could create a one-size-fits-

Mr. Ek's concept of RPU (revenue per user) is spot on. If the music industry hopes to maintain any sort of positive relationship with their customers, they must maximize the lifetime value of fans rather than squeezing "as much as possible

Alright I may have a tendency to be overly excited about new technologies, but this is seriously amazing. The possibilities (and problems) that arise from this application are vast. This could completely revolutionize the stock photograph

I agree that most small stores could benefit from a "just-in-time" inventory system, but I'm not sure it could be styled after Walmart's. The key to their success is the massive quantities they move, as well as their network of delivery tr

First off, congratulations on you're enrollment at WUSTL--I grew up in Saint Louis and always admired the university. I've never had an intimate view of the student body there, but I do believe the school to be as progressive as any. I'm o

The author's bleak conclusion on music's future on the web is an interesting one. As popular as this media is, it really does seem to be in trouble with a lack of innovation and huge legal barriers. With a vast majority of sites simply scr

How value can be added to a CD is really the million-dollar question for the music industry as a whole I think. Frankly, I don't think there is one single answer. What works for Raster Noton, who has a distinct set of fans, will certainly

As a salesperson in a retail store myself (I'm actually at work right now), I understand completely what you are saying. People can be very cold when you first approach them as they walk in, but you can turn their attitude around instantly

I too have noticed a rather obvious connection between hacking and music. Perhaps it has something to do with the parts of the brain that both require (I'm no neuroscientist though). As for me, playing music was a big part of my life growi

I would argue that using 20+ years of data to extrapolate a mere 3-4 years in the future is perfectly acceptable. His coefficient of determination is quite high so I'm pretty comfortable using that model. Of course you have to be cautious

I wonder if this idea could be expanded in a Mechanical Turk type site. Startups could get untraditional exposure by paying people from all around the country to wear their shirts. I'm sure there would be plenty of people out there who wo
