Is he comparing working at OpenAI to religion? Is that not a crazy analogy to make? Cult like behavior to say the least. It's also funny the entire business of AI is poaching content from people.

I don't trust Cloudflare but this is not a problem they created. They solved a real problem with DDoS protection in the beginning and now AI crawlers increasing server cost is not a negligible problem. The CEO of iFixit called out Anth

Cloudflare isn't universally hated but I think most people are very nervous about the power Cloudflare holds. Bluesky puts it best "the company is tomorrow's adversary" and Cloudflare is turning into a powerful adversary

Value is not a hard science. I've seen people shelve tech debt in favor of work on a feature that no one ends up using.

People say this but I wonder about this from time to time. I don't think anyone is asking to rebuild datadog from scratch for your company but surely it's worth it to migrate to something not as expensive even if it takes a bit of

They were granted stock options because of the high risk nature of startups. It was the leverage they had over the old guard is that if you join us and we succeed, you're set for life. It wasn't because they were worker friendly,

It's a mixed bag to the point where I would agree that it's placebo. It is great for getting you from nothing to something quickly but it makes no many mistakes that I think it evens out to being marginally faster than if I did it

People on this website are externalized from the consequences of their actions or make blog posts about how they went on a digital detox retreat, joined a cult, found themselves, left the cult, and founded a new startup that will not be evi

I have a simple question. Is it worth building a community? Outside of being paid to do it, is it worth doing? Seems like more trouble than it's worth to me.

Do you have any reason for thinking Bell Labs was good for the industry? The DoJ broke up AT&T specifically because their monopoly was putting their foot on competition.

You say that like killing Bell Labs was a bad thing and Google did not give us LLMs. They may have wrote the paper on transformers but the ground work was done by universities.
