I also miss some aspects of retail. Life was easy when all I had to do was show up and stock the shelves. Co-workers were a lot easier to talk to and make friends with. I actually had pretty good insurance for about $20 a week too (this was

Godspeed. I remember putting a $50 8 bit Sound Blaster in my 386 when I was 12. Suddenly games had music and I could even play and record wav files. It connected to my CD-ROM so I could pipe CDs to the speakers. Easily my favorite computer

That is probably because there are a lot of people in college who shouldn’t be there. I was one of those people, but just kept at it until I graduated to meet parental and societal expectations. I’m still paying on a degree I will never use

There was a very short window of time around 2000 when BeOS was viable as a main OS, at least for a high school kid like me. I think I even got rid of Windows entirely and just had a single BeOS partition for a while. It was sooo fast on my

I had a 2011 i5 Mac mini sitting in the closet after it stopped getting OS updates. By 2018 I figured it was long in the tooth even though I'd added more RAM and swapped the hard drive for an SSD. I pulled it out one day not too long a

I can't believe this game is almost 30 years old. I used to play it all the time as a kid, and actually still have it installed today thanks to GOG.

Part of the fun of MySpace was customizing your page with backgrounds, music, moving your top 10 friends around, etc. I sometimes think there is a niche market for this kind of social media again, adapted for mobile devices.

This reminds me of why I like cheap little Chromebooks. The cost to utility ratio is amazing for a little over 100 bucks, I don't worry much about the laptop getting damaged or lost, more ports than a MacBook, and a Linux VM is built i

Even worse, it seems a majority of Texans are not concerned at all or even want the grid to fail for politically motivated reasons. There is also a mentality that the government shouldn’t be telling us to raise our thermostats especially af

This is true in a lot of areas of Texas. The mobile home dealer will even help you find land. You typically have to have a water well and septic system installed on the land. I see these mobile home land packages come up for sale on Redfin

I’m not sure why stick builders haven’t embraced factory production of homes. Maybe local codes are prohibitive of this kind of development? It seems it would be a lot easier to buy large tracts of land, build streets and utilities, and tru

I lusted after QB 4.5 as a kid in the 90s just to be able to compile a real exe. It seems it cost several hundred dollars or something seemingly insurmountable so I never got it. I did find several other shareware/freeware Basics at th

Speaking as someone who has been on the other side of the interview table for a customer service position, you probably focused on the tech side a little more than the people side. It sounds like you were probably over qualified as well. Us

So a MacBook without a monitor? I do like this idea though. I would rather integrate the CPU into the keyboard instead of those gorgeous 5K displays, which limits their lifespans. Seems like such a waste.

It just seems odd that there would be identification numbers for a U.S. agency included in a data dump of a foreign military.

All of the women I dated I met in lower pressure situations like at work or school and the relationship just developed naturally. I never tried to force it. I met my wife at work while in college (so it wasn't a professional level job)
