iCloud Private Relay clone, implemented worse (no cryptographic privacy to the first hop, as Private Relay does it, AFAICT). Apple always does it first, and possibly best.

Even if Google releases a decent AI, they won’t be able to monetize it as effectively as search ads. Further, training and serving an LLM is now much, much cheaper than running a real search engine. Billions of dollars worth of datacenters

Unions: organizations whose sole purpose is to acquire a monopoly on the means of production. They’re parasites, but corporations are worse. Don’t let either ever gain the upper hand.

I hope the Bazel plugin works with this. And I hope there is at least one Jetbrains IDE where I can work on C++, Python and Rust at the same time.

What is the effect of this approach in winter? The opposite? Losing heat from the sun that would otherwise help heat the building?

I love the material here, but it's mistitled. This isn't about computer science, it's about computers. The introduction doesn't even display much knowledge about the definition of computer science, claiming it's &qu

The NYPD promises an officer will respond to a noise complaint within 8 hours, and only if there are no other emergencies. That’s a terrible SLA. A drone can probably respond to five calls an hour since it doesn’t get stuck in traffic. Reco

Why doesn't Apple build a custom TEE to do DRM playback, and authenticate the display as well? That seems like a better solution.

Twitter need distributed editorship. If a tweet is inflammatory, viral, or incorrect, a group of respected users can suppress it or edit them to remove bait headlines. This would be similar to the Wikipedia editor model. Editors can be elec

Starlink latency is still too high, and goodput is too low, especially as they oversubscribe their service. This will help a bit, but it’s no panacea for Starlink’s woes.

Usually on family road trips you don't get to decide when you're going to stop for a bio break. So with an EV you end up stopping twice (or more). With an ICE there is usually a gas station at the first stop.
