Microsoft is sabotaging itself. There will come a time when Microsoft becomes too big and will be split into several companies. When this happens, the dysfunctional state of their applications will grant other companies the room to be compe

I find most win conditions problematic. There's no chance in winning, if you can't defend yourself. So any win condition is always just an additional factor to pure force. Then again, you can cut out competition from important res

Don't know the AWS prices, but a bate metal box on Azure (or a VM) is exponentially more expensive than the same thing on literally any other provider. If you need only a VM to self-host, go anywhere else and you pay a fraction of Azur

> What kind of AWS setup leads to surprise bills? If your blog ends up on front page of HN how much is the traffic spike going to cost? $100? $1000? $10000? Wait! You just answered your own question, no?! Yes, the surprise is the amount

> Well, no. It's irony, but it's only cognitive dissonance in a comedy show which misses the nuance. Like the nuance between sending out your love and doing the Nazi salute? Or different?

> Exactly. So why is it part of your init system? Can you think of a reason why it is not a totally separate project which is totally independent of systemd? What? You can use SystemD to have services like a webserver or a python script

Stoppped Reading 5 paragraphs. If the article fails to convey where it's going, why should I invest the time? Also, what are those hashtags? Completely unrelated to the actual content.

I really also don't understand this. I started using Linux on server OS around 2010. I think this was not long before SystemD was available in Ubuntu by default. I found writing or even understanding init scripts was really difficult f

OAuth is authorization only. The part where it is vast is the different mechanics to grant/delegate access. And that's really needed because you need to be able to have Oauth working fo humans and machines where the accessing serv

As with everything: repetition. If you forget these things you don't use them often enough. On that level, do you really need to remember them or are you happy enough to have a good and short reference, like this article for example? M

This is an excellent article. The only thing I am missing is a short paragraph about OIDC, which is the thing that enables authentication. To most people who just get in touch with the topic OAuth is more authentication than authorization.

I don't see the competition. That's like Men and women football. Most people just don't care about the latter and women football is not competing with men football -- at all.

I prefer Siri to Google Assistant. The latter is the epitome of retardedness. At least when used in German. "Hey Google, new appointment tomorrow at 14 o'clock: Clean kitchen." This used to work fine 7 years ago. Today this c

I hate that. I don't want dependencies for serialization or logging. But you do and now you have to choose which of the dozen logging crates you need. As a beginner this is horrible, because everybody knows serde, but I have to learn t

AFAIK: Rust compiles to machine code. Even if the stdlib would be 600 mb, If you have 3 lines of Code your programm would be microscopically small.
