Is that going to change? It looks like Apple is charging 0.50EUR per first-annual install of every alternative app store (no free installs for the first million). So it's going to cost money to run an alternative app store.

You don't get 1 million free installs if your app is an alternative app store. For the alternative app stores, they pay 0.50EUR for every first annual install.

The fridge's noisy, heat-generating parts should be outside, like for a split A/C. That's the only way I'd spend a lot of money on a fridge.

I learned in my teens. I now hate driving. It is too much responsibility, and is boring. I can make anything go fast (including the Prius), but that has little overlap with safe and responsible driving (a proper understanding of human li

Can't anyone that dislikes you file a lawsuit and subpoena the data too?

I gave up waiting for the author to finally explain why this car was so great, and just stopped reading. For all of the hyperbole, I can only imagine that the author hasn't driven a neutral-steer car.

To avoid being a hypocrite, I have no landscaping crew. I'll consider one once they're using battery-powered equipment.

Definitely better to be outside, but for many people that is too dangerous.

Won't they have the same launch problem on Mars with their engines blasting debris everywhere? I guess a smaller gravity well means less thrust, but it still is a lot of thrust.

Don't forget that the CA energy market is highly regulated and isn't a free market, so there will always be haggling over anything that reduces the revenue of the utilities (as they don't really get to set prices).

The papers are hard to publish since the politics pervade the peer reviewers and editors. But I've seen some in my Twitter feed from scientists that I follow, including one who became independently wealthy by making accurate prediction

I don't remember now, as I don't read news, and it was covered by everyone at the time due to is ability to play into the current tribal wars. So it was filtering into my social media from witness accounts, analysts, etc. But CNN

That's a real intellectually honest representation of the situation. Why did Daniel Penny have to defend himself and the other passengers from the violent, crazy dude? Why would I put myself in the same situation, exposing myself to

That caused Daniel Penny a lot of trouble. If the police won't keep the peace, and since we're not allowed to protect ourselves, then the next solution is paying for gated communities, private schools, Costcos, and private carria

I wonder how much of the plastic in the RO machine leaches stuff into the supposedly pure water. The same for one's household plumbing --- does it leach into the water?

It is such a pain to write Win32 code that you didn't have time to add all the features that would slow down program launch.

I stopped visiting reddit after too many mods censored me and others that don't conform to the left's ideology. Twitter is where I get content now. And I'm a liberal.

I really miss the authenticity of an Elon presentation. Some of the people in the Vision Pro presentation looked 3D rendered with the degree of post processing the video underwent.
