I must be getting old because playing an audio track, looking up some information or changing the volume seems a first world "problem" and is still incredibly easy just by using the device that is performing the task, eg. playing

I find it odd that you say you're not a huge fan of providing audio to Amazon, yet have bought a few devices that actually do that and then have proceeded to put them into your home...? For someone who isn't a fan of providing aud

What a shame. It was a pity because he was heavily used in the first series and was kind of annoying, but that wasn't his fault - that was the writers! I suppose it must be a skill to learn that people dislike your character, not you p

This is true. But C++'s destructor behaviour means you get this pattern without any thought, and consistently and reliably and deterministically, whereas other types eg. C#'s "using" statement requires explicit usage, wh

This is a good point. Sadly our fluffy friend had to be put down due to FIP and I hope we made him as comfortable as possible during his life - we didn't take away his step anyway. I still miss him and it has been years.

YouTube adverts have been obnoxious for a long time, but it's got far far far worse this year. Unfortunately, I think it is necessary to support the media industry thanks to the diminishing returns from sales of music/film due to

I run one and it works very well, but I fear the rise of DoH and devices just bypassing your network's DNS settings to query the manufacturer's DNS servers. I think Google devices do this. A sad world we live in when you have to f

Do Amazon tablets and phones still show adverts on the lock screen? They seemed to sell a lot of them despite this being a "feature" of them back when they first launched.

Does your Panasonic stop loading any smart apps if their servers go down too? Mine refused to load anything (eg. Netflix) if it can't get in touch with Panasonic. Check what network activity it is engaging in. You'll be disappoint

My old LG "smart" TV would send a web request to LG every time I pressed ANY button on the remote control. I took that stupid TV off the network as soon as I could. I think the manufacturers are all as bad as each other. My curren

I find some of the sliders for on/off are impossible to read. You can't work out what is on or off. Windows 3.11 / 95 UI seems such a good idea by comparison to today's UIs - checkboxes with obvious tick marks or X marks

No! I detest the dialog boxes that ask a question and then the only options are "Yes" or "Skip for now"/"Set up later". I want to confirm "No".

These are good tips but are likely dependent on the humidity of where you live. Here in the UK, since the air can be so damp, it's difficult to dry clothes without leaving it in direct sunlight for the 3-4 days per year that we get it,

It's amazing to hear people thinking that Win32 will just go away. It's the core of the API, and has been added to in every Windows version. I am pretty sure the .NET framework on Windows is just wrappers around the Win32 function
