But why? Why not the standard oci-containers module? I've seen the quadlet-nix project but don't get what additional it gets me.

I had shared the game with the wife when I first saw it here on HN. She told me just a couple of days ago that she is still playing it fairly regularly!

Was looking for an alternative myself but seems like there's no free tier? (Garnix had a rather generous one.) I don't mind self hosting the workers (because my use cases are just in my homelab) but I need to contact you for that?

Token allocation/cost aside, how was the quality of the model? Any comparison with any other model you've used? For example, I've heard DeepSeek v4 Pro is comparable to Sonnet 4.7, so I just bought some credits to try it out.

I have been self-hosting Vaultwarden for a few months and it has been great. But this news still worries me because Vaultwarden still relies on open-source Bitwarden clients and sounds like those could be on the chopping board anytime soon.

Tell me more, what's your setup. I use uBlock Origin in Firefox and network ad blocker. Wondering what other options are there.

Rsync.net is really really good. Just this weekend, my backup tool went rogue and exhausted quota on rsync.net (Some bad config by me on Borg.) Emailed them, they promptly added 100 GB storage for a day so that I could recover the situation

Same. Pi is refreshingly minimal in terms of system prompts, but still works really well and that makes me wonder whether other harnesses are overdoing. Look at OpenCode's prompts, for instance - long, mostly based on feels and IMO unn

Can you share the code? Specifically, curious how you did the browser integration. Did you use agent-browser? Something else?

Are there collaborative versions of these *claws today? Like, if an "admin" could self-host one on their home server and the whole family could use it? IIRC, OpenClaw has some version of "profiles" but does it allow, say

I too was thinking about something like this a few months ago. There were couple of reasons I didn't pursue the idea. One, the image generation AI wasn't reliable enough. Like, I couldn't get it to generate 2 images where the

I am building a tool for synthetic monitoring for APIs. (Mimic users and generate continuous traffic against your APIs so that you catch problems before your users complain.) There are some tools available today but setting them up is a lot

I didn't read any fickleness in the post. Sure, they tried multiple distros - who hasn't - and that too over ten years.

I've had a passing curiosity about Guix, so it was good to read this report. One thing I didn't find is Guix on servers. I am all-in on NixOS for both my daily driver desktop and couple of servers, and adding more of either will b

Maybe this is what's happening to me at Fidelity. They keep complaining about my email on custom domain but the Protonmail address works fine. I use different apps for the two because PM doesn't support IMAP, so maybe PM doesn

For me, 2025 was the year of the Linux desktop. I wanted a replacement for an M1, something beefy to build side projects etc., so I custom built a PC and put NixOS on it. Still rocking it and quite happy with it.

I too care a lot about privacy and data sovereignty but those aren't sufficient arguments to self-host. For instance, my wife cares about the two too and so she uses most of the services that I host at my home, but she isn't going

ZFS is RAM hungry, plus doesn't like USB connections (like the article implied). So, I've been eyeing btrfs as a way to setup my NAS drives. Would I miss something in that setup?

What you are describing sounds more like backups (which is great) but not necessarily a declarative setup.

Coolify and friends (Dokploy?) look like nice tools. But I am not very comfortable with them because the state of my server(s) isn't present in code. So, I like NixOS or Ansible more but then they require a bunch of boilerplate and cus

I would love to use KeepassXC but it doesn't make it easy to share credentials with the wife. I _could_ use a dedicated vault, but we'll then need to cut-paste things for sharing existing credentials. So, for now, I've settle

UV is fast, like FAST. Plus, it removes the need for pyenv (for managing different Python versions) and pip for me. Plus, no need to activate env or anything, `uv run ...` automatically runs your code through the env. It's a nice softw

I am building an AI application (of course). It'll have an agentic workflow in the backend and exposes a chat style interface to its users. So, not a lot of CRUD stuff.
