Thanks for taking the time to write this, lots to think about here. I actually had the chance to talk to Mark Cuban after the GMA thing, and he had similar comments about changing habits/behavior. Even if Newbee is as useful as I think

Very interesting. Perhaps I could have framed this campaign better, less about the app itself and more about the underlying service?

A valid point! I like to think that my bullshit detector is tuned well enough to tell the difference between "hey that's cool good for you" and "I am legitimately on board with this idea", and the positive feedback

Great question! Because the app isn't done yet, which is why I'm running the Kickstarter in the first place. ;) The funding I'm looking to raise ($10k) is to finish and ship it, and I have a few plans for revenue generation i

I'm just tickled by how many commenters have a totally obvious solution to this problem. Surely, the hundreds (thousands?) of experts at Google, the IEEE, and the ~8 manufacturers who put this contest together are just fools who coul

As an avid iPad music hobbyist, this is really cool. Reminds me a bit of Polychord ( http://polychordapp.com/ ), but Polychord's UI is a bit awkward and the app is incredibly crash-prone. Looks like Fiddlewax has signi

Is there any use-case besides sexting that necessitates: 1. Sending photos that automatically disappear in seconds; 2. Requires user input to view; 3. Prevent screenshots, strong efforts to prevent saving photos?

And that's assuming every user has 50GB worth of photos - which, for the record, is a lot of photos. Most are probably in the low hundreds-of-MB range, which brings your cost per user down by an order of magnitude, at least.

50GB? Are you sure? That's over 1700 full-resolution RAW images. (Roughly-estimated at 30MB each.) Even if that is the case, you're welcome! I'm subsidizing your account. :)

"Do you really think your measly $25/year cover for their expenses with you?" Actually, yes. Hard drive space is incredibly cheap, especially at their scale. My photos aren't terribly popular, so they aren't using much bandwidth either. I p

Design has always been about aesthetic preference. While you're absolutely right about the core concepts (typography, color, contrast, etc), I find it amusing that you say that buttons "should" have rounded corners, or that gradients "are f

Accusing me of sexism is completely out of line. I attacked the author professionally because I don't think she's right about design. Professionally, I lauded her programming and writing accomplishments in another comment, and I'm sure

"She ended up with something that didn't look like Bootstrap at the end..." That's not a good thing. If you're a designer building an MVP prototype, use Bootstrap as-is or with a pre-made theme. If you're building a real product, hire a d

I'm going to sound like a dick for saying this, but I'm okay with it: most people's "creativity" shouldn't be expressed in a public way. Breaking away from Bootstrap and making it "less stereotypical" is probably a bad idea unless you kno

Design is not easy to learn, for anyone, and the article did little to teach design. It offered sources for finding fonts, and finding textures, with little advice about what makes a good or poor font choice, or when and why textures work

Actually, no. I meant it. The author is a programmer and writer who has received attention for her work in both areas, and I absolutely respect that. I simply disagree with her offering design advice.
