I use it for the standard things like hovering over URL's and watching page load progress. And I also agree that the pop-up in Chrome works reasonably well for this too... however... FF went and added an 'Add-Ons Bar' to replace the bottom

And for me the Chrome UI is the primary reason I can't stand Chrome and stay with FF. Whatever they do to the default layout in FF doesn't bother me, just keep giving me the option to put it back the way I like it. So far, so good... other

I think the reality is that Abobe isn't stupid. They see the future and are getting on the bandwagon "early" to ensure their place in the HTML5 future is well established.

The title I find a little misleading. The term 'embrace' implies it was a free will decision on Youtube's part. Considering they are just a Google division I would think "Google adds Hangout support to Youtube" would be technically more a

Good for them. As much as I hate the software patent system, until it is fixed or eliminated it is a necessary evil for a large tech corporation. Tech patents are the nuclear arsenal of big tech business. I have my stockpile, you have yo

I don't see it as crippling at all... I don't develop on a 486 :) But you also don't need to sit on an i7 either which was the thought in the article. If your target audience is using typical hardware then most of the time you can easily

I've made this comment before on here. I purposely develop on older hardware because of performance concerns. Pretty much any code you write performs well on an i7 but will it perform well when it gets to your clients who are all stuck ru

I still have a Hotmail address as my 'spam catchall' address around the web. I've had it since probably 1998 and since a lot of old friends and accounts are still connected to it I'm not letting it go. It continues to serve its purpose we

They didn't create their own social network. They registered a domain, added a development forum, wrote an ethereal sounding warning message about the coming 'future', wrapped it in a goth inspired theme, and posted it to the internet. Th

I offer up this little item since I'm a bit of a stickler for applications using proper grammar. This is nothing complex but I use it all the time. I have versions of the same routine in every language I work in. function plural(count

It's not that simple. They authenticate against your Account at Browser ID. I would assume you can go into Browser ID and add / remove email addresses from your account which makes it even easier when you change your email. Now you don't

This is fairly huge. Embedded movie rentals (with offline downloading), book purchases, etc. This is a significant feature launch seemingly without a lot of fanfare. Perhaps I missed the early hype on this? I hope for once 'select countr

The current 'mature' design may have been somewhat recent but that's the general distillation process of software evolution. I think in general all successful software products of similar intent migrate towards a fairly common UI layout wh

I tend to think that the similarity of 'Streams' is mainly due to the fact that that is what a social information feed looks like. It's kinda of like saying "Those word processors all copying each other with their large text areas and blin

Interesting, may want to submit that as a bug. When I do a show all I get about 80-100 people but that's probably just a factor of my connections list. They will need to trim that down if it's being overly generous in suggestions.

Not really much differently than FB's UI does. Each person is in a small rectangle with the bottom part of the window split to display the circles. The top scrolls and you drag from there to the bottom pane. They will have to come up wit

I don't disagree that setup is a bit more work, but I think the pay-off for the individual user is very high. On top of that I expect you'll see Google introducing "Groups" as well very soon... public subscription groups that work better

This is the same bad UI decision Google made with Gingerbread. Somewhere deep inside Google is a UI person who thinks that medium grey on a black background is easy to read. They got their opinion into Gingerbread making the status bar ve
