Typescript supports JSX out of the box. It was once true you need custom tools for React, but JSX has proven useful enough that support is provided almost anywhere you need it. Also, as someone else mentioned, JSX is really just syntactic s

I used to work on an ML research team. In addition to what the author mentions, there is an entirely separate issue: whether or not what you're attempting to do is possible with the approach you've chosen. Consider making an iOS a

I think there are different ways to interpret what a popular opinion is. For instance, there is doing thing X, wanting to do thing X, and wanting to want to do thing X. So even if a religious concept appears unpopular, it’s possible that be

I know the author explicitly stated they weren’t going to share any additional details outside of this piece, but I’m curious as to how their child was injured. Like most parents, I fear for the safety of my child and want to protect them f

I second this. The days of running your website are over, except for hobbyists. Most people are much better served by spending a few dollars to get access to a high quality tool for managing your site.

This feels like a retcon. The real reason is most likely that Google started interviewing people this way and then that's the culture that developed in the industry. Once a culture develops, it's very hard to change.

For people who live on boat-access islands in cold climates, hovercraft are a common way to get to school in the early winter and spring when the water isn’t navigable by either boat or snowmobile. Obviously kind of niche though.

If that’s how you want to spend your time, then that’s fine. But, it’s kind of delusional to think you’ve been learning to speak another language. At best you’ve been playing a language-learning inspired game. I know people who have done Du

This data probably already exists, though. Fingerprinting is more than good enough to identify an individual. Porn sites can easily aggregate this information already.

This was true for me until the latest iOS release. The new autocorrect is markedly better. It used to be that at least 30% of words (not even sentences!) were misspelled. Now it's pretty rare. I think the auto-correct on the iPhone i

The anecdote about writing the compiler in C is very interesting. LLVM is obviously very popular these days, so it’s refreshing to see a counter example. I also love that the compiler was decidedly mediocre. It just goes to show that often

If there was a fixed number of shoes, then shoes would probably be made the way housing is made. And indeed, getting good shoes was hard before the industrial revolution, which made making new shoes a lot easier.

There is a negotiation over the agreement. If you don’t agree with an agreement, then buy a different product. Thats how all agreements work. It’s just not very fun to negotiate when there’s a large power imbalance.
