The title is incorrect: Azul are not open sourcing Zing JVM, they make it available for free to open source developers, but only for "development, qualification, and testing". Still nice though.

You should not call them investors: It seems most projects on Kickstarter (actually all the ones I have heard of) are not about selling equity for cash and distributing a part of the profits, but offering a product for pre-order. No matter

Because HTML5 is not adequate for complex UI development. It seems Oracle is the only company to see that the current "every app should be HTML5" trend will end in overhype and failure.

I often hear that but it is no true in my experience. Maybe your run-of-the-mill flavour-of-the-month hipster web 2.0 app has a limited shelf life but most enterprise apps stay deployed for years.

ESRI also has an ArcGIS editor for OSM: http://www.esri.com/news/releases/10_3qtr/openstreetmap.html Never used it though.
