I used Dark Sky on iPhone until they redesigned the Weather app. Then the stock option became an immediate drop-in replacement. I wish the API remained open so others can use it but as far as the app itself, it was never really that good.

One response I received was: “weed is natural and comes from the Earth”. It’s absolutely mind boggling how stupid people can be.

This is the definition of “working smart vs. working hard”. Not everything about the CPU needs to be solved by pushing it to the limits of physics. TDP is not linear relative to CPU freq.

SRE seems to mean something else at every company. As a current SRE, I agree that this is what _I_ do most of the time. But while saying that, I also don’t see myself as “true SRE”, not the way Google defined it. SRE should become the code

I’ve been there. Many technologies OP listed .. it all becomes a nightmare without proper HA (but who want’s to have _multiple_ servers at home (servers as enterprise HW, not a computer designation). Then you hit an issue with licensing, ol

This story plays into my (probably irrational) fear of getting banned from some of the giants such as Amazon, Google or Apple. Justified or not, some companies hold a serious leverage over our daily lives. Amazon was mentioned on that list

Or could it be because of their product? https://flipperzero.one I’d not be shocked if their product danced somewhere on the line of legality. In a similar way that as it’s illegal to own lock pick set in some states, which can

July 11. No blackouts took place but they sent out notices to turn up thermostats and the available reserve was a bit touch and go for a while. https://www.reuters.com/world/us/texas-grid-operator-warns-p...

It was not so sweet two (or three?) months ago when cloud coverage in West crippled our grid and central/south Texas was in record high temperatures.

Depends on situation, I suppose. Winter 2 years ago, it was a total cluster-f caused by generators not being properly weatherized (the owners chose to pay ridiculously small fines rather than weatherizing the equipment), extremely low temp

Random shallow rant, I really wish they came up with a different abbreviation than zstd. Not only it sounds strange but it’s also too long for abbreviation, imo. It could have been “zs” or “zd”.

I checked their wiki before ordering and they sort of consider the SE model as a newer revision of R4S. So I’m hopeful. It if that doesn’t work, I’ll find some other use for it. Anything that does not run the Chinese flavor of Ubuntu or WR

I can enrich the VMS beer: Despite having Open in the name, the newer cans are tightly sealed and come in 32 or 64 cans. However these cans fit only very specific and expensive 32 or 64 oz can holders. Some say the first sip tastes a lot l

Yes, it’s 5E. I thought that cat5e maxes out at 2.5GBit. Honestly, none of my devices would benefit from 2.5Gbit in a significantly way. I run some cloud backups in the night and it’s ok if it takes extra 5 minutes.
