While the need for unions come from a good place, I disagree. What unions became is not what they were meant to solve. I’d rather advocate for better work laws on federal level. Employees are treated like cheap labor, especially in the righ

Looks like there is a way to “pause” NextDNS. To have this ability, you have to set it up via their App and not the (recommended) configuration profile. Then you will gain a simple app with Enable/Disable toggle.

Thanks for this!! Do they have any “tools” to temporarily allow some blocked content from a device? Or does one have to go to web and adjust the profile?

I’m more worried that $5k savings per EV will translate to $500 per EV for the end customer. More than anything, I welcome the switch away from lithium for both economic and environmental reasons.

Could it be possibly because of some badly written word filter? I’m hinting at the second part of his last name. The extra “g” is there because that’s how it’s spelled in German language, and yes, the translation is what you would guess.

I love this as a concept. Small, lightweight and ..slow to be fairly safe. The issue is how to integrate it with the rest of the established world. How do you have a little car sharing road with 3ton trucks and speeds 50-70mpg (_read_ 70-90

This should be more publicized! I was shopping for a new car couple months ago and skipped Tesla because I don’t like Elon as a person. I certainly would not buy a car that does that!

TikTok is only a part of a much larger problem that US was not ready to deal with. Sure, TikTok having “coarse location” permissions seems like a very bad idea, give the fact it’s Chinese owned app. This is the obvious one and I personally

Same but I focused on their expressions. Faces with expression “we are taking a picture of me” were fakes. But that being said, all the pictures were insanely convincing and I picked fakes only because I knew I had to pick one and not becau

Sort of off-topic. I noticed they publish Universal, intel and arm builds for MacOS. I’m struggling to understand why would they build all three? Why not do either universal or split arch?

Is it just me living in a bubble or are most of the recent layoffs in tech only? It’s been a massacre.

Imo, Who can win at a court is meaningful only to entities who can afford and/or spare the $$$ for lawyers and actually go to court.

yah. This is clearly wrong. If you are 105 or more, you should be able to vote as many times you want… you legend!

Now that makes more sense. After a while I had a feeling like I’m listening to two monologues related by a topic.

I use BBEdit as my secondary editor. It’s pretty fast and stable. Nova looks pretty mature but it doesn’t have some extensions I need :(

I’m still running Atom. I’m hoping Pulsar will keep Atom alive. Besides of VSCode, I tried using Sublime for a while. Its absolutely great slick editor (pricey but I was willing to pay for that comfort) but the plug-ins I use were very medi

Cute but seems a bit too simple. I’m no fan of VSCode, I like my UI clean and simple (like Atom for example). Oh well, will continue waiting on Zed.

How do you deal with DNS based ad blockers in a multi-user environment (eg. home network)? One issue I always seem to hit- adblocker breaks some site and user has to go to a webUI to unblock it, which is a bit to ask from some family member

If it works for you than that’s all what matters. If you want a quiet computer without the HW configuration constrains of single board with no slots, I recommend older HP EliteDesk G2 (or newer) 35W SFF. You can get them for about the same

I wonder what’s the amount of warheads that can be deployed within minutes-to-hours. For the sake of argument, let’s say the US have around 5-6k warheads. How many are somewhere in cold storage, far away from their potential launchers or ca

I’ll check them out. The price is very reasonable. Proton is around $7/mo (if you upgrade from the free plan) and that’s a bit too much for me personally, considering I’m interested purely in the mailbox only.

Good point! No recovery means one less attack vector. And I’m ok with that for this specific account purpose as well.
