Shouldn't these be related? If the posts are on LLMs the comments are going to be on LLMs. But I agree with the notion the comments are the valuable part of HN, the topic is just a jumping off point.

I wrote my own front end for HN using Flutter (just a pet project) specifically so I could have dark mode and a topic filter. But I just got tired of adding new AI topics to the filter.

I do currently work on ML projects at FAANG. Idk I just always found HN my escape into more interesting topics, now it's just my day job.

For me the LLM topic is just all enveloping in a way the other trends haven't been. Obviously there was a a million crypto posts and it was annoying but crypto covered a specific niche of overall software stuff (payment processing). Wi

Yes! I actually forgot to add the politics point in my post which really doubles the exhaustion. I really loved seeing what things people were up to, not the latest headline from trillion dollar company or the US government.

I'm not sure I understand the argument or value of this post? It feels close to just saying, make your code better and you will see less bugs. I don't disagree but the product environment has a lot to do with how features get depl

I've learned the value of this. Some people don't realize the value of something unless you show it to them. It's a risk for sure but honestly it keeps me sane vs trying to get 10 people aligned before starting something and

This post randomly gave me an idea for an infinite scrolling site that may help break the cycle while still being fun. Imagine a TikTok / YT style video scrolling but after each video you have to swipe progressively more times to get t

This somewhat feels like 2 layer neural networks are a universal predictor. It is true in the limit but not useful in practice. When it comes to studying food / diet studies really do need to be a lot more careful about trying to contr

I think this also summarizes the issues a lot for people on HN face. Oversimplification and over confidence in estimation. Engineers tend to do this a lot.

To parents point your metabolism will drastically change over those 3 months and the rate at which you lose weight will change. Additionally the distribution of your muscles and fat will also change.

Not really in favor either way but isn't that a bipartisan win? For a bill to be started by one president and completed by another?

My brain is trying to understand the loop going on here. * Republicans ban TikTok * For whatever reason ban doesn't go through (was it via executive order) * Dems pickup where republicans left off and ban TikTok * Republicans undo ban

Was just saying the same thing on another comment! Feels like the Steam Deck is like a Hot Rod / Muscle car and the Switch is a Toyota Corolla. Might not be as cool or have as much HP and you aren't going to tinker without it but

I think there's also a certain amount of "jank" to the Steam Deck. Don't get me wrong it is a super cool console and pushes a lot of boundaries, but you don't really 100% know whether a title is going to run the way

That's a fair correction, but it is still approx 3x the proportion of the population. Edit: actually I take that back the metropolitan NY area seems to encompass a much larger area than the GTA and goes across multiple states.

The US president has way way way more power than the Prime Minister. The prime minister is more or less a privileged PM. He is not the head of the military, cannot create executive orders or anything of the like.
