   This uses golang.org/x/crypto/ssh which doesn't spawn a shell, but handles the SSH connection like you would any other network connection. And the same could and should be done for the other mentioned examples as well.

   Why don't they put the update file on a subdomain with HTTPS enabled? No ad revenue lost that way.

   Some applications write to a temp file and then move that over the old file. One way to work around this is to symlink the entire directory.
