PEP 238 lays out the story if anyone is curious. Well into the Python 3 transition, I still had a habit of multiplying the denominator by 1.0 to ensure it was a float. https://peps.python.org/pep-0238/

Sure enough, Wikipedia says the population in 1940 was only 65k (which is still too many, but whatever). I would still assume that AC installation was very uneven and a luxury at the time.

This is something that I fail to understand - why are there so many people there? Is there unobtainium in the hills that can only be mined from the region? Prior to modern air conditioning, why would people setup there when there are seem

Don't go overboard, but you have quite a bit of margin for error. I am finding one claim that the upper maximum daily dose for Vitamin D is 4000 IU. A Costco daily multivitamin is 400 IU (most adults are recommended at 600 IU). If you

I don't take it as too-much-syntax in the brain[0], but all of the problems bad syntax causes. We could still be writing code in assembly, but we have found that different languages make things easier or safer to construct. I can trivi

Possibly not a solution for your use case, but I use earlyoom[0]. When memory crosses a threshold value, it will kill the worst offender. Has some knobs to tweak: what threshold level you want, which programs to keep safe, which to prioriti

That ad claims it removes microplastics. I was led to believe there are few easy ways to accomplish such a thing. Is this a, "Well technically, we started at 100ug/mL and ended at 99.8ug/mL => reduction!" or is this a

The most recent Steam Hardware Survey[0] lists the most popular VRAM at 16GB in 25.9% of users. Second most popular build is 8GB in 25.3%. >=24GB is ~7%, which is quite a bit higher than I expected. [0] https://store.steampowe

Do you have a write-up of this? I enjoy seeing these Playstation/ASIC/GPU mining installations which are usually some combination of incredibly clever engineering and duct tape.

I swear I read of pharma companies experimenting with this. The idea that because the molecules are so foreign, the body lacks enzymes to breakdown the product, so the drug gets a much longer half-life than would be typical.

While I am not sure a web framework can ever be "done", there is certainly a lot less churn required for something so mature[0]. That it also syncs up with Python releases is just an extra cherry on top. [0] Which isn't to sa

Quake came out in 1996, Diablo in 1997, Starcraft in 1998. Sure the adrenaline juicing is more sophisticated now, but there were already multiplayer games which could hook one for life.
