One of the reasons 5G seems worse is because most implementations are NSA (non-standalone) right now. As others have mentioned, this means you're using the LTE network for control/signaling and 5G just for data traffic. 5G SA impr

MU-MIMO does what you describe and is implemented in WiFi and 3GPP (LTE/5G) standards. Leads to significant gains in spectral efficiency too.

Exactly! And especially if it's provided by a cable ISP. It's just VoIP. Maybe with some QoS on their network and battery backup. It's not a real circuit-switched network with its own power supply like traditional POTS servic

Listen, SMS sucks (and by extension MMS which is what manages the media sending) but universality trumps all. It's a simple system that despite all its flaws is still available everywhere and used for everything. It's an "inn

I get what you're saying but the UI and UX of email is a wreck and a half even with a good client. And simple-but-powerful applications like messaging should appeal to the lowest common denominator if they want to be effective and usab

If you have sparse data, then maybe you shouldn't be making grand comparisons or trying to make claims about the entire world?

It's not saying the study is flat-out wrong. It's critiquing specific aspects of its reasoning and categorization. Not at all comparable to antivaxxers.

It is really weird the original study decided to categorize it this way. Especially because there are potentially drastic environmental differences between say the US and Australia. Same goes for the "Other" category. How are Chin

It's suppose to be on Globalstar's existing network which would be S-band and L-band but CDMA. It's not 5G-NR just yet though that's likely where they're headed. I think Apple added n53 as part of this deal at Globa

They don't necessarily have to. It can be an always-roaming service. Similar to what JT and Truephone offer.

These scenarios are the case for many Indian people and others working in the US. It's not an edge case. There are no hairs to split when immigration and citizenship status are integral to why people might act the way they do...

This is a someone common problem with solar flares and cellular base stations. Bit flips cause odd configurations to show up, sites to become sleepy, or even just straight up go off-air. A simple reset fixes them but it happens more often t

The main difference VoLTE provides is preferential network access for voice calls. In times of congestion, voice calls will still work when data might not. VoLTE calls also have a coverage advantage to them over data. Cellular networks have

Just because the tech is standardized doesn't mean Apple could just fly on their own. The carriers are entrenched via spectrum ownership. It would be impossible for Apple to build a network without the right spectrum.
