If I drive my UK small-city commute by car, it's mostly stop-start traffic through 20/30 mph roads. It won't help on the motorway but the carbon efficient replacement for that is a train, not an EV.

You're not including the defined contribution retirement plans, which are a vehicle for investment. N.B. I believe 'pension' ≡ 'defined benefit' is an American English thing, which may the source of the confusion. I
