I found the original series so much better than the film. The film was good. I like Gary Oldman but I remember being so disappointed that he shouted at the end. Couldn't imagine Alec Guiness doing that. Very un Smiley.

Gawd, I used to loooove SGI. It is really nice to see some variation in computer architecture come in to the mainstream. (aside from the awesome GPU tech wars)

This is in my queue! This is a great podcast, Adam Gordon-Bell is such a thoughtful interviewer, probably my favourite episode was "Don and Adam discuss Folds", it blew my mind and made me smile. Very highly recommended.

Have to say as slick as stuff like this looks I do find myself gravtatiing towards ETL in code. (It feels easier to read/understand) How would you change control something like this?

I don't mind him, it feels like he is figuring things out still but I like that at times it can turn in to what feels like a quiet conversation between friends. Which can be illuminating and heart warming. Quite unexpected for a podcas

I learned that too! Weird, it is like you have tohave this whole stack in place to perform an action. Not to dissimilar to the the day job.

I was once given a device called the 'Edinburgh Masker', it was a set of headphones and a throat mike (I looked like a ww2 bomber pilot..) and it played a tone when you got stuck on a word. It was very weird, but quite interesting

It is worth it to keep going, he is figuring things out still, both himself and this thing he is figuring out, and the technique and insight may not be the cure now but at some point he will piece things together and what he has learned may

Have a stutter too, I was in speech therapy from when I was 7, and one of the techniques that worked best was to focus on breathing and relaxation. When I blocked on words, the levels of tension in my body was/is extremely high. Specif

Hydrogen... which can then be put back through a fuel cell to produce electrickery. The germans are looking at this. I believe.

Shame, they have such an opportunity on so many fronts. I am actually very intrigued by the hardware, a powerful linux box which may make a cracking console in it's own right. Wouldn't mind one of those at home.

here in the UK there was the whisper of using the gas system to deliver hydrogen (or a variation). I heard last year that one of the big gas mains in Yorkshire was being converted to supply hydrogen. I guess if you replace the boiler on the

An interesting one, on a tangent, this morning on my work windows10 machine I had a Chrome notification telling me about the latest plurasight deal. First time this has happened for me, it is an interesting use of the notification system!

Dirk Meyer ended up at AMD, it was why the likes of Hypertransport borrowed/adapted the Alpha EV6 protocol and kicked serious arse. Always loved Alpha's, their influence cast a long shadow.
