As someone who has a speech impediment, I really speak too fast too, but then thinking back to my speech therapy, there the emphasis was on breathing, with the focus on diaphragmatic breathing, which has the effect of softening the face and jaw, the relaxation of the shoulders and the chest. When I do this, my cadence drops, my words flow better and I can impart what I want so much easier.
Now I have written that down I really should do that more often ;-)
